Part Five: Manage a Portfolio, Not a Parade — Chapter 9: Business Outcomes Are the Portfolio
Chapter 9: Business Outcomes Are the Portfolio
Companies often build an “AI portfolio” made of projects, tools, and vendors. That view rewards starts. A business-outcome portfolio rewards evidence, decisions, and results.
Each portfolio item should describe:
- the friction;
- the outcome sought;
- the business owner;
- current maturity and appropriate maturity;
- current decision position;
- committed cost and attention;
- primary measure and evidence range;
- next decision date;
- sourcing choice, if made;
- current status: stop, test, invest, industrialize, defer, or complete.
