Part Two: Map Before You Move — Chapter 3: The 5x5 Business Map

Patterns matter more than boxes

The value of a grid is not that every activity fits neatly into one square. It is that a visible friction often crosses several squares.

A slow proposal may look like a sales-process problem. The map may reveal that approved language lives in documents, pricing rules live with one executive, prior examples are difficult to search, and no measure exists for response time. The issue is not one missing tool. It is a capability that crosses people, process, knowledge, workflow, and governance.

That is the difference between automating a task and improving a business. Do not leave the map with twenty-five projects. Leave with a clearer view of the few places worth examining.
