Metrics change behavior. Each quarter, choose one result that improved unusually quickly and trace it back to the inputs. Confirm that the measure still means what it meant when the decision boundary was set.

This is not an accusation of cheating. People optimize what the organization rewards. A routine check protects the meaning of the number.
