Part Five: Manage a Portfolio, Not a Parade — Chapter 10: Governance That Can Be Used

The quarterly review

The quarterly review connects individual experiments to the company's capacity and priorities. Use the same agenda so people know which evidence to bring and which decisions the meeting needs to produce:

  1. Compare actual results with promised ranges.
  2. Retire completed work.
  3. Review re-entry conditions for deferred opportunities.
  4. Reconsider sourcing and defensibility where the market changed.
  5. Review approved use, human signatures, and metric integrity.
  6. Ask: What should stop?

Record the decisions and assign the next actions. The final question needs a real answer when the evidence calls for one; otherwise the review can become a way to renew every commitment without examining it.
