Part Two: Map Before You Move — Chapter 4: Appropriate Maturity

Musou: appropriate maturity depends on the job

Musou did not need every capability to mature at the same rate. It began as a mobile web application rather than a native app, reducing cost and complexity while allowing real-user testing. That was an appropriate early choice for the job: prove the member and coaching workflows.

Other capabilities demanded more maturity as their consequences grew. A small movement library could begin with hand-entered content. Once hundreds of rows, duplicates, inconsistent names, and exposed video links appeared, “content display” was no longer the job. The business needed a maintainable content system. Import tools, update-and-insert behavior, name normalization, multi-category support, private storage, and temporary viewing links followed.

The target moved because the operational requirement moved. The company did not pursue maximum maturity everywhere. It increased maturity where scale, privacy, and repeatability made the current level inadequate.
