Current, appropriate, and gap

For each relevant cell, record three things:

• current maturity;
• appropriate maturity for the business now;
• evidence supporting both judgments.

The gap is not automatically a project. It is a question. A current level of one and an appropriate level of three may deserve attention. A current level of two and an appropriate level of two is not a failure. It is alignment.
