Chapter 1: Stop Asking for an AI Strategy

An AI strategy can include sensible things: approved tools, data controls, training, vendors, automation targets, and a sequence of projects. The difficulty comes when that list develops separately from what the company is trying to accomplish.

You still have customers to serve, costs to manage, trust to protect, and a business that needs to be able to act tomorrow. Those responsibilities tell us what a new capability has to contribute. Once we understand them, we have a reason to discuss technology and a way to judge whether it's helping.
